Week eight: IPad: Literacy apps


My point of view is for and against this application. Why? I’m for because you can imagine different stories for the children and present them in your classroom. This application is easy to use (you can take some photos, videos … you can choose your write, the colour, the style. . . You have a lot of possibilities. In more, you can give one IPad for one group of 3-4 children who have 10-12 years old and ask them to create their own story and after present it at the classroom. This activity can be funny for the student and they use: imagination, language of English, technologies. (It’s a lesson who uses a lot of modules because you can ask them to make a story about sciences, history, geography, etc.). I’m against because if you make it all the time the children lost them knowledge about the literature (Peter Pan, Alice in the Wonderland, Harry Potter . . .) and they must know the famous and classic literature, it’s important for them knowledge. In more, you must pay minimum: 6 IPad (one for you and one for one group of 3-4 students) and have an interactive blackboard. I think, the children are, all the time, exposing at the technologies, you can see a little bit it in your classroom but not too much because, after, they use it every times and it isn’t good for their health. They must use real books, take it in their hands, turn pages and discovery the pleasure to read a real book.

So you can use this application but with moderation because too technologies are not good for the health and in same time use it a little bit it’s good for the children (live in their time, have a little fun, stay active).
